    Hearing the speed bag in the background, full of mean portent, reminded me of the European fight I saw not long ago that had a brass section playing by the ring. Can’t recall which, but, while it was a fairly good idea, strangely enough, the band kept playing the same lame standard over and over.

    Perhaps there’s something there for boxing: live accompaniment, improvised, with the musician(s) changing tempo as the action heats up. Drums like ancient war music to fill the lulls, goad the fighters and rejoice in the action. Free jams during the count.

    Floyd’s uneventful fights can be scored to musique concrete — Brian Eno on phase-shifted Coke bottles. 😉
