  1. Not a winning look for the hitherto likable Crawford, a local hero who can easily afford to pay his bills. With only sketchy reports to go on, I can’t pick who’s at fault over the bill of services. But the idea of showing up with a posse (including another fighter) to twist some shop owner’s arm over a contracted repair must be at least dubious.

    • It looks bad, although we can’t know all the details. I was pleasantly surprised to see HBO acknowledge this incident, albeit briefly, in their recent special on Crawford.

      • Maybe after Bud’s technically brilliant but unappetizing win over Postol, HBO will use his car shop terror spree to breathe fire back into his reputation. ‘The fighter who mangles car lifts’ doesn’t scan well but might sell tickets.

Curious to know what you make of recent moves and non-moves by Eubank Jr. and Saunders. I thought after BJS’s impressive win over Lee we’d be seeing a lot more, not less, of him. In my view either or both men should accept the gauntlet thrown down by Curtis Stevens — BJS to warm up for Canelo, Eubank Jr. to prove he can step up.

      • Personally, I loved Crawford’s performance against Postol. There were few fireworks but, as you say, it was technical boxing of the highest standard. That might sell tickets in Omaha but won’t set PPV buyrates alight.

Stevens has already been turned down by Saunders (and could be headed to an entertaining fight with Lemieux). His decision-making lately has been inexplicable. David Greisman sums it up more eloquently than I could: http://www.boxingscene.com/fighting-words-billy-joe-canelo-saunders-stubborn-stand–107720

Eubank has a mandatory British title defence against Tommy Langford (who?) on tap. However, with purse bids for that won by Frank Warren, I doubt it happens.
